AEG Live Will Offer Full Michael Jackson Ticket Refund Plus Souvenir Tickets

After a weekend of deciding what course of action to take AEG Live has decided that they will be offering full refunds for anyone who purchased tickets to what would have been Michael Jacksons upcoming stay at Londons O2.  

Beginning tomorrow Wednesday July 1 customers will be able to receive face value plus all service fees.  To receive more information on refunds you can go to MichaelJacksonLive.com.  Refunds will be processed by both Viagogo and Ticketmaster.

“The world lost a kind soul who just happened to be the greatest entertainer the world has ever known,” said AEG Live President and CEO Randy Phillips in the statement. “Since he loved his fans in life, it is incumbent upon us to treat them with the same reverence and respect after his death.”

In addition to the refund fans will be allowed to hold on to their tickets as a souvenir.  These tickets were designed by Jackson himself for the concert series.

It is still not clear as to how much of the $85 Million in lost sale will be covered under AEG Live’s concert insurance.  The British media has reported that only roughly 50% of the concerts were insured.

This was the first statement made by AEG Live and follows a large group of other ticket sites who have publically said they will offer full refunds.  Those sites include, Viagogo, Seatwave, StubHub and TicketNetwork.

eBay said in a recent statement that it will extend its buyer protection to include all Michael Jackson Tickets bought through its site.

“eBay is committed to ensuring that no buyer is left out of pocket as a result of the unique nature of the event, and will ensure all buyers on the site can receive a full refund for their ticket purchase,” the statement explained. “On this basis, eBay and PayPal is extending its Buyer Protection to all Michael Jackson concert ticket purchases bought on eBay. The company will also help sellers by refunding eBay’s sales commission when they refund buyers for Michael Jackson ticket sales.”

Recently when tickets went on sale in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne for Green Days Australian tour they sold out in 30 minutes. Because of this they have decided to add additional shows to there down under stop. They will be playing a second show in each of the sold out cities and also a second show in Auckland, New Zealand.

The current new schedule goes as follows.  Brisbane’s Entertainment Centre on December 8-9, Sydney’s Acer Arena on December 11-12, Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on December 14-15 and Auckland’s Vector Arena on December 18-19.

The band have tickets going on sale soon for a show in Perth and tickets for Adelaide Entertainment Centre in Adelaide are on sale now.

Phish Three Day Festival Will Live Again

This year has been a good year for one of the most loved jam bands.  They have come back after five years and will release a new albumin on July 28, they just finished a leg of their tour and now they have announced that they will be bringing back their 3 day festival.  On a banner on the bands website it says, “ Save the Date: A 3-Day Festival 10/30, 10/31, 11/01.”

No official word has been released on the location but two have been speculated.  First is Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, CA and the second is a 700 acre farm in Manchester, TN.  These two locations hold the biggest music festivals every year including Bonnaroo Music Festival, Coachella and Stagecoach.

Phish will begin a second leg of its tour in Morrison, CO on July 30-31.  The upcoming album will be the band 14th studio album.  Singles from the album have been debuted at different cities along the tour.

WASHINGTON, DC (PRNewswire) June 29, 2009 - The National Association of Ticket Brokers (”NATB”) announced today that, as per its Code of Ethics and policies, all of its members are required to issue refunds and/or credits for the full purchase price including the service fees charged by them for tickets purchased from them for the shows cancelled due to the untimely and tragic death of Michael Jackson.
