Tina Turner Announces Tour While On Oprah

Tina Turner was on the Oprah show last week and while there she announced that she is going to be heading back out of the road later this year.  While not many details are known at this time we do know that she will start out in Kansas City, MO at Sprint Center on October 1.

The last time Turner was on tour was in 2000 when she netted over $80 million on her US leg.  That made it the 5Th largest US tour ever.  Her last live performance was on February 10 when she performed a duet with Beyonce at the Grammy Awards.  One of Tina Turners most famous song is “What’s Love Got To Do With It”.

Counting Crows and Maroon 5 To Co-Headline Summer Tour

Beginning on July 25 at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Virginia Beach, Counting Crows and Maroon 5 will begin a co-headlining summer tour.  Opening acts will include a mix of Sara Bareilles and Augustana.  The tour will come to a close on October 4 at Cruzan Amphitheater in West Palm Beach, FL.

This will be an amazing tour as both of these artists have gone multi platinum.  To be able to get them on the same stage is a very nice treat.  The tour is expected to stop in more than 40 different cities and is being produced by Live Nation. 

Maroon 5 is still basking in the glory of there last album, “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long”.  Counting Crows has just released, “Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings”.

Wicked To Be Seen in San Francisco

Wicked which is one of the most popular shows ever to hit the Broadway stage will soon end its run at Gershwin Theater in New York City.  If you were unable to see it in New York it will still be running at the Ford Center for Performing Arts in Chicago and Until January 9, 2009 at Pantages Theater in Los Angeles.  Then Beginning in January 2009 Wicked will head to the Orpheum Theater in San Francisco.

Wicked has easily become the best performer in regards to ticket sales having been seem by over 2 million people.  At first it received somewhat of a chilly reception by critics but then ended up winning 10 Tony awards in 2004 followed by 6 Drama Desk awards.

No announcement has been made on the casting for the San Francisco show.  It will be directed by Joe Mantello.  Stephen Schwartz will be in charge of music and lyrics.

Def Leppard Adds Summer Shows

On the heels on having to cancel dates on their current tour, Def Leppard announces it will add more shows in Canada and the US.  The canceled shows this month were due to lead singer, Joe Elliot coming down with an upper respiratory tract infection.

Alan Jackson, Faith Hill and Carrie Underwood Headline CMA Fest

On June 5-8 country music’s biggest stars will begin flocking to Nashville’s LP Field for the 2008 CMA Music Festival.  Artists include:  Alan Jackson, Faith Hill, Carrie Underwood, Dwight Yoakam, Randy Travis, Trace Adkins, Montgomery Gentry and Kenny Rodgers. 

Tickets went on sale this past weekend for the 37th annual show.  Ticket prices are $40 for all reserved seats and $30 for General Admission.

American Idol 7 North American Tour

The winner of American Idol has not been announced yet, but they have already set up the North American tour for this summer.  It will begin on July 1 at Jobing.com Arena in Glendale and will wrap up on September 13 at BOK Center in Tulsa.

The tour will include this years top 10 finalists:  Brooke White, Carly Smithson, Chikezie Eze, David Archuleta, David Cook, Jason Castro, Kristy Lee Cook, Michael Johns, Ramiele Malubay and Syesha Mercado.

Erykah Badu Announces World Tour

Erykah Badu has announced that she will head out on a world tour and it will begin in Detroit on May 4.  She will end the North American leg in Albuquerque on June 15.  The tour is being called “The Vortex Tour”.

If you are going to be attending you will hear a lot of her older popular songs as well as songs off of her new album, “New Amerykah”.  In the past Erykah has been associated with the band The Roots so it is very fitting that they will be performing with her for most of the tour. 

Badu, who is a 4 time Grammy award winner, will begin the European leg of the tour in Copenhagen, DEN on June 25 before ending on July 17 in Belgium.

For all ticket sales on this tour Badu will donated $1 to her communiting organization B.L.I.N.D.  Beautiful Love Incorporated Non-Profit Development provides music, dance, and visual arts for inner city children.

Natasha Bedingfield To Tour In The US This Summer

Known as one of the UK’s most popular music artists, Natasha Bedingfield will tour the US this summer.  This will be Bedingfields first tour being the headlining artist and it will kick off on May 21 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina at the House of Blues.  She will make 20 stops before ending in San Francisco at the Fillmore.

Natasha, whose hit song, “Unwritten” was the first song by a British singer to go to number one on the US Billboard Pop charts in the past 19 years.  She will be playing this summer with the Veronicas and Kate Voegele.

Sheryl Crow heads On Tour with Guest James Blunt

In just a couple of days Sheryl Crow will kick off her Detours Tour.  The tour will start in April 23 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at Brady Theater.  She will be joined by James Blunt on July 24 at Sommet Center in Nashville, Tennessee.  The tour will wrap up in Seattle on August 30.

It has been well noted that Sheryl is a big supporter of the fight against global hunger.  To help support this cause she is donating $1 from every ticket sold on this tour to the World Food Program.

Paul McCartney Live in 2008 or 2009?

The rumor mill is spinning again and now it is filled will the possibility of Paul McCartney going on tour either later this year or in 2009.  There is no formal confirmation but Paul has said publicly that he is wanting to tour in the coming year.  Rumors have also be heard that McCartney might join Billy Joel on his Shea Stadium tour in July.  Paul McCartney last toured in 2005.
