Lollapalooza Completely Sold Out in 2008

This past weekend was the annual Lollapalooza music festival held in Chicago’s Grant Park and for the first time since it made a comback in 2003 it was fully sold out.  The event sold out it’s 75,000 aloted tickets for days 1 and 2 first and then shortly after sold out the 75,000 for day 3.

Lollapalooza featured over 120 different bands and included headlines such as Radiohead, Kanye West and Nine Inch Nails

Lollapalooza started in 1991 as a goodbye event for rock band Jane’s Addiction.  It gained much recognition from acts such as, Ice-T, Nine Inch Nails and Siouxsie & the Banshees.  The festival continued its annual traveling show until 1997 when it struggled to attract a headlining band.  That was the last year of the event until 2003 when it was revived as a standing Chicago festival.  Since 2005 Lollapalooza has helped raise $2.3 million for the Chicago Parkways Foundation which has helped build and maintain parks, playgrounds and youth activities within the city.
