Led Zeppelin Tour Announced by Bassist John Paul Jones

A few months ago we reported about rumors that Led Zeppelin was in the works to go on tour in 2009.  That was denied by lead singer Robert Plant.  Now Bassist John Paul Jones has publicly stated that a tour is in the works for next year.  The Musician made his announcement at a UK guitar expo.

“As you probably know, Jimmy, Jason and I are actually rehearsing, and we’ve had the odd singer come in and have a bash,” Jones said.  Rumors in UK tabloids say that these singers are to replace Plant if he turns down another tour.

Replacing lead singers is something that is very common on bands who continue to tour many years later.  Journey, who recently has began tour again replaced, Steve Perry when he left the band due to health problems.  The rock band, Yes, has announced a tour that will exclude Jon Anderson.

The Los Angeles Times reported that if the tour goes on with out Plant they should look into creating a new sound with a different name.  They state this because there is a chance they will look like a cover band without the presence of Plant.
