2009 Bonnaroo Music Festival Posts Attendance Gains

The 2009 Bonnaroo Music Festival which was held this past weekend in Manchester, TN was deemed a success as it broke last years attendance by attracting 75,000 - 80,000 attendees. Last years totals were around 70,000. Even though they did not sell out the event festival promoters Superfly Presents and A.C. Entertainment were happy with the results.
“Considering the current economic situation, we feel incredibly fortunate to be in this position,” said Superfly’s Rick Farman in a recent statement. “We don’t take anything for granted.”
The Bonaroo festival showcased over 140 bands and 21 comic performers.
In the early years of the festival they seemed to attract mostly jam bands, but things have become must more diverse with groups such as Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band and Phish who both played for over 3 hours this year.
A few of the other highlighted acts to this years event were Nine Inch Nails, David Byrne, Public Enemy, TV on the Radio, Al Green, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Snoop Dogg, the Beastie Boys, Merle Haggard. Wilco, King Sunny Ade, Lucinda Willams and last minute addition Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band.
