George Michael To Call It Quits

Having just spent the last 20 months on a 49 stop world tour George Michael is about ready to make his first appearance in the US in 17 years.  On June 17 he is set to launch a 7 week North American tour, but this will be his final.

While being intereviewed by the BBC Michael had this to say, “Mainly the reason is because I’m 45 and I think pop music should be about youth culture. It shouldn’t be an endurance test.”

Michael is one of the many great 1980’s music acts to be retuning to the stage lately.  All within the last couple of years we have seen Neil Diamond, The Police, Van Halen and Genesis.

No Summer Tour For Ashlee Simpson

Just weeks after Ashlee Simpson tied the knot with Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz and she announces that she is expecting her first child, Ashlee Simpson has cancelled her 12 date summer tour.  No official reason was given to the cancellation but Ashlee did post the following on her website.

“I’m really sorry to announce that I’m going to postpone my tour this summer.  My team gave me a few reasons I could use:
1. jury duty (but you can get out of jury duty once)
2. creative differences (but I’m a solo artist so that didn’t make sense)
3. not in the mood/have a headache (wait, that was an excuse for Pete! and it didn’t work. See next reason)
4. the baby

…and that’s where I drew the line.

The truth is I want to put on an amazing show for you the next time I come to your town. I promise I will be back, better than ever and ready to rock out. Until then.
Love,
Ashlee”

The bands website reported this announcement but didn’t give many details.  “We are saddened by this sudden news, but he has our full support.”
